Future Sailors

A series of sessions designed for everyone - book as many as you like and choose from Level 1, 2 and 3 to suit your skill level. The ideal way to start sailing or to progress ready for moving on to one of our RYA training courses. Great fun and a good way to make new friends at the Club!

Future Sailors Level 1

Set sail after school and discover the fundamentals of sailing in a fun, safe, and hands-on environment. This beginner-friendly 3-day program is designed for students with little or no sailing experience who want to learn the basics of being on the water while building confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Over three engaging 3-hour sessions, participants will learn essential sailing terminology, water safety, boat handling, steering, sail control, knot tying, and teamwork through a mix of shore-based instruction and on-the-water practice. Students will gain practical experience operating small sailboats under instructor guidance while developing independence and confidence on the water.

Future Sailors Level 2

Take your sailing skills to the next level in this exciting 3-day afterschool program designed for sailors who already understand the basics and are ready for more independence on the water. Ideal for students with prior beginner sailing experience, this course focuses on improving boat handling, decision-making, teamwork, and confidence in a variety of sailing conditions.

Across three 3-hour sessions, sailors will refine core techniques while learning more advanced sailing concepts such as efficient sail trim, upwind and downwind sailing, tacking and jibing with control, launching and docking procedures, and introductory racing or navigation skills. Participants will spend significant time on the water practicing maneuvers, problem-solving, and working as a crew under instructor guidance.

Future Sailors Level 3

challenge your skills and elevate your performance in this intensive 3-day afterschool sailing program designed for experienced sailors ready to sail with greater precision, strategy, and independence. This advanced-level course is ideal for students who are already comfortable handling a sailboat in varied conditions and want to refine technical skills while developing racing tactics, leadership, and advanced seamanship.

During three 3-hour sessions, sailors will focus on high-level boat handling, sail optimization, tactical decision-making, advanced maneuvers, and performance sailing. Through coached drills, scenario-based exercises, and competitive sailing activities, participants will build confidence managing the boat efficiently as skipper or crew in changing wind and water conditions.
